I miss the days of downloading newsgroups in batches, well not really but I do miss the staying up till 8 or 9 in the morning talking about some random topic. Oh the heated discussions about linux and windows, sendmail vulns, virus theory, and my favorite making the most of old equipment. Either I am getting old or more of the people on the net are getting stupid. Somehow I feel it is both but meh. I still frequent alt.2600, times have changed a lot since I was younger. I really hate seeing all the retard flame crap in there because they find it necessary to do so. But for an alt group that is expected. Do you guys remember using another *nix box for the write use? LOL!

Well, yeah. It's sort of like the ARPANET, only less important, and more broken.
I have a new favorite lex quote.

I would be nice to the ARPA NET, if it wasn't for that, we wouldn't be here.

Thats....helpful? -.-

yes that's helpful. you can use google/school/library to learn just like i'm sure the rest of us did. i'm pretty sure you are not going to find anyone here just handing out "how to hack" lessons.
to be honest, if you don't understand how google is helpful, then maybe you should get to know the internet a bit more before trying to hack the internet.

Begin with the stuff that surrounds you and work out from there. Your perspective on the world is different than the rest of ours. You may have access to knowledge and products that seem trivial to you but someone else has zero experience with. Be curious and explore things and ideas.
My advice is worth what you paid.

to become a hacker:
1) research what you're interested in and take things apart to see how they work
2) don't start with viruses
