I thought it was the number od digits but i could be wrong. I like your colors better the dark green is so harsh. But i guess the dark green is more true to form.

it's this one. "7 segment" stands for how many segments it takes to make the 8. so when it originally just said "HOPE" it was still 7 segment. 
tho i did notice how there are 7 letters/numbers in "HOPE111"

since people keep bringing up the confusion of HOPE 3 or HOPE 7...i made a little animated gif. tho to be a logo for it, an animated .gif wouldn't exactly work on t-shirts, stickers, etc. but here ya go.
i really don't think there is going to be "that" much confusion. anyone already familar with HOPE, will(should) know it's the 7th HOPE. then if they couldn't read binary, then i'm sure they will investigate and figure it out.
now anyone, who is just learning about HOPE, wouldn't know it's the 7th. so they wouldnt't be confused till they figured out it was the 7th, then just as above they would do the investigating if they couldn't read binary.
i would like to give credit to the majority of HOPE attendees that either they can read binary, or figure it out pretty quick if they couldn't. i'd like to "hope" most of them are intelligent, lol, than to assume there will be more of them not so intelligent.

Is "HOPE111" a real theme? It looks cool buts it really not a theme though. What would the "HOPE111", HOPE 7, theme with this logo be?

Maybe that ought to be asked as another thread? In any case, you're right. "HOPE111" is a fine name, but 'tis no theme, English.
I also think that most everyone ought to have an easy enough time figuring out the 111 thing (otherwise Tommy here can come back and hit you in the head with a tack hammer..., and etc).

Anywho... That is a badass graphic Lexicon, can you make some more (without the dash) and in various colors (e.g. red/green/etc.)
I think one of the cool things this idea has is the excessive and somewhat elegant use of the number seven...

Well, Hope number six was the the name of Hope number six... but the theme was awesome and very much its own thing
transending the name... I'm sure the theme for HOPE111 will also transcend the name HOPE111 or whatever name is given
to the conference... no pressure emmanuel...
