Security never needed a segway. They were just the security people bogarting the segways.

Security never had them for our use - was was told to people was that they were not available for use - batteries were being charged or the people in charge of them who had the 'keys' had stepped away. This got changed to they can't be used because the people at security said so, then became they can't be used because they are security's. What was said was the first one, the other two are permutations from people telling others.

Right, what he said. The batteries did need to be charged from time to time. That was probably just miscommunication.

and there was only one set of 'keys' (the rfid speed tags) for each - when the people responsible for the segways walked away, we had to tell people they couldn't use them even though they were standing right behind us - cause without the tags they wont run.

Uh, I still don't think those are good reasons to not have segways. People really enjoyed them.
Why don't we just, you know, put a system in place so people can't bogart the segways? If I have to volunteer for segway duty, making sure that everyone gets a turn and teaching newcomers how to ride one, I will.

I never slept on the hammocks... but this year is the goal to do it. Though one question.
Where do we put our stuff when we sleep? I highly doubt we will grip on to our laptops
when we slumber. People steal stuff. Unfortunately it's true.
Any ideas?

Keep it in a backpack, possibly one with the zippers locked together with one of those tiny luggage locks, or tied shut with some cord. Sleep with the pack tucked under your knees, straps looped over your leg.
There are always enough people around where if someone is obviously trying to do something shady with a bag strapped to a sleeping hacker, someone will raise some sort of hell for you.
